Christmas all over

Well christmas is all over for another year.  The time comes and goes so quickly, if  you blink you may miss it.  Either way, it was a great Christmas lots of friends and family and the most important thing was I am going to be Mrs. Millman in the future.   We haven’t talked about any of the details yet…going to wait until we get home before we sit down and discuss the details.  Almost everyone know now.  There is a few that I am not telling until I get back in TO.

This coming week is likely going to be busy.  I think I will be down east for the majority of the week. Depending if dad needs the truck I am see if he will allow me to just take the truck on new years eve to S’side for I am planning on going back east on the 1st until the 3rd.  This will save him from driving my to town on New Years eve and picking me back up on New Years but it is all depending on him and the weather.

Tentatively right now I am going east on 28th until 31st.  On 29th Kev is going to come east to hang out with my friends then go back to Mike’s on 30th.  The 1st I am going to see if I can meet up with Melissa.  I haven’t seen/spoken to her is so long it will be good to meet up.  Somewhere in this process I have to hang out with my mom.

Almost there

Well it is the second week of December and it is almost time to go home.  I have already started packing up the gifts to come home.  We have to balance out the weight this year with the new weight restriction for planes.  I dont really feel like rearranging our bags in the middle of the airport.    By the looks of it we wont be hurt for luggage space this time.  Presents are smaller of just not as many, either way we will likely be still taking home all four hockey bags, we will just not have them completely full.

November Already

How did it become November already.  Either way, it is hear and the weather is starting to feel like it. Last week it was above seasonal temperatures.  It was 19 degree here on Wednesday.  Looking at the weather for the coming week it appears the fall weather that arrived Friday is here to stay.

Our plane tickets are now all booked to come home.  While waiting for a seat sale come home we didnt have any luck and ended up missing the 279 into Ch´town so we are now flying into Moncton for 279.  We are still flying out of Ch´town on the 4th.

Raheleh and I went to the William Ashley Warehouse sale  http://www.williamashley.com/warehouse.html They do this big sale every fall and allow the public in.  Basically is the expensive china and kitchen/deco stuff on sale.  I picked up a few things that are going to make for some good xmas presents.  For example I got a winnie the pooh baby 3 piece eating set for 12 bucks normally 35.   I even got me a new clear red colinder for 10 to match everything else.

Packing is still on going.  We eliminated another three bins however our cable bin was getting too full so I moved the cables into one of the big bins and empty one of the small ones that I could use elsewhere.

We were talking to the landlord today, the people that are going to take the lower apt are getting their keys on Tuesday.  Much to say Carl has been hear all week trying to get stuff down.  He layed a new click flooring and Josephine is painting. That lady has some weird color choices.   The walls in the eating area is an orangy color, one bedroom is a gold color the other bedroom is an light greenish color.  Seeing the downstairs ones today explains the color scheme up here.  The bathroom is a gold color.  The kitchen has one gold wall and a toupe color that runs right through the living room and hall area.

All moved in

Well the move went quite smoothly.  Apparently I packed a couple of bins a bit heavy but they managed.  I have the kitchen completely unpacked and setup.  The internet and satalite was setup yesterday so now we have internet and tv.  I want to have everything unpacked and the bins put a way by the end of next weekend.  Not sure if that will happen because I have to go back to the old place to clean and hand in the keys.  Kev works this weekend so you know he will be so much help…NOT!!!

Was looking at the flights home.  Friday is still sitting at 297 but Saturday changed to 600.  YOU HAVE TO BE INSANE  to think I will be paying 600+taxes per person to go home.  I love ya mom but NO WAY.  Will continue to look but that 297 is looking like that is going to happen.

Less than a week

Well it is getting down in time…we are scheduled to move to the new place on Friday.  Must to say it is crunch time!!!  We offical get the keys on Wednesday but are going to wait to Friday to actually move.  Our friend Tim is going to come by on Wednesday and take the stuff out of the fridge, the duffel bags, pictures that are too big for the bins as well as my plant.  We are not sure if we are going to meet Kev out in Etobicoke or if he is going to come back after he gets the keys.  Then Thursday our friend Jebus is going to come by with his truck and we are going to take the electronic.  As much as we are trusting the movers….the TV is not going to be trusted to them.  The Friday is the move.  The movers are suppose to be here for 9.   They have some work cut out for them, currently I have 17 bins full and they are all heavy.  I thought I had a good plan in distributing the books between serveral bins…well after I topped them up with other things they are just as heavy as if I put them all in one bin.

We have been watching the plane prices so we don’t have to loose and arm/leg to come home.  Well checked the numbers today and air canada has one flight home for 215 plus taxes but the flight is 2pm…we are not able to get off work until at least 4  so that is out of the question.  They did however have a flight back on the 4th for 129.  So we booked the flight back to Toronto, we just need to get to PE.  We will continue to watch those one to try and get a better price then 279.

Getting closer

Well the count down is on.  Our place is still a obstacle course however the bins are getting filled up.  This weekend my plans are to tackle the kitchen.   I want to get everything washed down, stove/fridge cleaned out.  The stove is going to be the biggest issue.  I have already decided to just replace the tins on the stove instead of cleaning them.    The oven on the other hand is going to be fun…NOT!!!

I am not sure what Kev has on the plans for the weekend.  Hopefully packing up more electronics.   At some point the small stuff has to start getting backed up regardless if they all go to the same room.  Basically I need to know if we require more bins to move or not.  I don’t want to have to run out and get more bins just  before moving.

Beta is starting to get antsy as soon as the duffel bags came out of the closet.  When duffel bags come out that generally means we are leaving for a week and he is left alone.

Middle of the Month

Kev and I finally found a new appartment, it is actually a house for rent.  The place is a two bedroom on the main floor of a semi-attached house in a small cul du sac in Etobicoke.  Included is central air, wash/dryer, dishwasher.  We only have to pay for electric/water which is normal and phone/tv/internet.  We are moving the 17th of October.  Must to say our current place is full of bins.  I believe I have 7 packed already and that is just skimming the surface.  I just don’t have enough to fill an entire bin at this point.  I can particular fill alot of others thou.  We want to try and get the bins broken down by room to make it easier for the movers.   I am sure the week before we move we will have almost everything gathered up and we will be down to the bare bones.

Things at work are the same, the new guys are finally coming into weekend rotation.  This means I will only need to work one weekend a month compared to the two I am currently doing.  Between packing and work I don’t think I have done anything is two weeks.  I managed to get the gym in two this week.

Tomorrow Kev and I are going to the Leafs vs Buffulo game.  This a fan’s game meaning it is not part of the regular schedule so the season ticket holder don’t get tickets for it unless they particulared in some activite to win the tickets.  I won the tickets from the Coke contest online.   All tickets are free but you had to do something to win them.

It is hard to believe this is the last week of August. People are getting their kids ready for school and trying to take in as much fun a possible. Kev and I are going to a friends cottage this weekend with several other friends. Kev and Chris are taking the bikes out so I will be taking the majority of the stuff with me with Chris’ wife Ouida. We are leaving after work on Friday and coming back Monday at some point.

Halen was here for a day last week while she was laid over between flights. We did a lot of shopping and she got her nails all done up before jumping back on the plane to head home.  Mom was heading up the following day for the week.  They went to the States to do some school shopping.  Mom had fun.  This was her birthday present from Tena.

I have been talking to Dad, herring fishing started on Sunday night.  They are actually getting a good price of .10 per lb.  They are allow to fish up to 80000 per week.  I haven’t talked to him today to see how last night was but the way Sunday/Monday I am sure he did well.

I put in for my xmas holidays, I haven’t received confirmation but I believe I was the first one in so  chances are pretty  good.   The CEO doesn’t like working during the holidays and doesn’t think his employees do either so he generally gives “Elliott Days” between Boxing Day and New Years.  It is 3 days that are considered vacation day that are not included in your vacation provided.  It is never a sure thing but has happened for several years so chances a good that they will occur this year.  This all means I only have to use 5 vacation days for the holidays.  Our time is not rolled over so I am not sure if 3 of those days are going to be considered 2009.  If they are 2009 then I have another 3 days to burn before the end of December.

As you can tell, my life is still as boring as before.  Work just hired 4 new people to start filling in people that have left over the fall/winter season.  This will only give us really 1 extra person then before.  This may make a difference but I am not too sure.  Either way, the newbies are just starting their last week of training.  I have to teach them billing on Thursday morning.  Not sure if I can fill my two hours allocated but I am going to try, for that would bring  me up to  11 and  we are having our  Inside ride in the afternoon.  This will be a good start to my 9 days straight.

About a week ago, I ran into my friend Jules at the mall and we decide to get out of the house we were going to join the gym.  A new gym was just opening up on top of Superstore and they were have a deal.  So we signed up.  We have been at the gym 3-4 days this past week,  I am a little stiff by ok.  With the inside ride on Thursday, I have been on the bikes a lot.  I don’t want to look like a fool nor let my team down.   I also meet with one of the trainers to see what they consider a good work out.  She showed me all the machines and how to properly use them.  So that is the plan for  this afternoon.  I am not sure if jules works today or not but the baby leafs play tonight so I want to be at the gym and back before the game.

We finally decided to get season passes for the Marlies next year.  Now we just have to get them paid.  They are doing installments to reduce the burden, which is nice.  We even got to pick our own seats.  We are located second row of standard seating, almost behind the Marlies bench.  We didn’t want the premium seats for you are just too close to the glass and you can’t see down the sides.   For the seats that we chose, you can see everything and lots of leg room so you don’t even need to stand up to let people by.  By having season passes, we get dibs on seats that come available for the toronto soccer club and maple leafs.  Including getting to meet the Marlie players.  So it should be a good time.

So that is about all  I have been up to.  Will be starting cleaning up my house here shortly, so I can truly relax tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by and take care.

I was walking around in a store. I saw a cashier hand this little boy his money back saying “I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.”

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ”Granny, are you sure I don’t have enough money?” The old lady replied: ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.” Then she asked him to stay there for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. “It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for this Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.” I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus will bring it to her after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly. “No, Santa Claus can’t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.” His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.”

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: “I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.” Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me “I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won’t forget me.” “I love my mommy and I wish she doesn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.” Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. “What if we checked again, just in case you do have enough money?” “Ok” he said “I hope that I have enough.” I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: “Thank you God for giving me enough money!” Then he looked at me and added “I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mommy can give it to my sister. He heard me!” “I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.” “My mommy loves white roses.”

A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn’t get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days ago, which mentioned of a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car, where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away. I couldn’t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.
